In September 2016 there was a lot speculation about the gender pay gap in modelling. However it may surprise you to hear that in this case, male models are the ones who are missing out.
Ever since male modelling agent Elizabeth Rose claimed to the BBC that male models make up to 75% less than their female colleagues, we decided to voice our opinion as the subject matter is quite interesting to us.
The Figures
When comparing the world’s best paid female model Gisele Bündchen, who earned $44 million in 2015, with the highest paid male Sean O’Pry who cashed in $1.5 million, it seems as if we are seeing one of the few examples where the roles have been reversed.
Elizabeth Rose told the BBC, “I think it’s the only industry where men get paid less than women. It’s unfair for men and I wouldn’t say it’s female empowerment at all.”

As a modelling agency that values equality and professionalism, we believe that a model’s pay should be a reflection of their work as opposed to their gender.
We make it our business to ensure that models are paid fairly. We asked our MD, Lesley, for her opinion on this and what it has been like over the past 22 years as a model agent for her.
“In my whole time of running Tyne Tees Models we have never had a female model receive more money than her male colleague. All model fees are paid on the time and usage of the booking, not because of their gender.
I can happily say that there has never been a pay gap for any of our models.”
