Jo Leversuch joined TTM Management as a Makeup Artist in 2015 and has worked with the agency on many fantastic bookings over the years including Astrid & Miyu and long standing client, Roxoa Group. We caught up with the professional Makeup Artist, owner of beauty brand ‘Untitled №1′ and ‘queen of skin’ to discuss her latest business venture, top tips for shoot prep and more.

What would be your top tip for a model coming along to a shoot?
To come along to the shoot with clean skin, no makeup and not to worry about using treatments masks the night before. My approach to makeup application spends a lot of time concentrating on skincare and massage on the face before the application of makeup, so my signature concept will make the skin glow.
Also, to make sure to bring along warm clothes and even slippers to keep the feet warm, if needed.
What’s your favourite booking to date?
This is so difficult to choose as I have been so lucky to have worked on some epic shoots and catwalks shows. The first booking that comes to mind would be the shoot and campaign image for the musical ‘Bat Out of Hell’ which has toured the world with the images and currently has a resident slot in Las Vegas too.
What do you love about working in the North East?
I love working in the North East because of the hidden talents of creative people here, plus the well-known attitude of being friendly really makes bookings a dream!
Tell us about your new business venture?
During lockdown I had plenty of time to reflect on myself as a makeup artist and the brand. I had always wanted to create another business as an offshoot from Jo Leversuch/Makeup by Jo which would coincide with the concept of makeup, sharing my knowledge and expertise in the industry. The market has a huge range of makeup brushes ranging from all price points and quality. When creating my brand, Untitled №1, I focused on how the brushes were made and how the design of the handle is equally as important as the shape of the brush hair. Jo Leversuch brushes are hand created in Germany with carefully weighted handles, soft and precise synthetic hair and a luxurious feel that doesn’t cost the earth.

What is the thing you love most about your job?
Apart from the early morning starts in the winter months on outside locations, I absolutely love everything about my job. From meeting the models, clients, visiting exciting locations and creating some amazing work with the teams, what can I not love?
