Starting out as a new model can be intimidating and nerve wrecking, that’s why we have caught up with Zovi, one of our top models at TTM Management, to share their advice for new faces, tips for succeeding as a model and more!
1. Forge friendships
Rather than feuds, make friends and get to know your fellow models. The industry is competitive enough as it is, so don’t add to the negativity. Remember to surround yourself with people that will mention your name in a room of opportunities, networking is the key to success in the modeling industry.
2. Don’t compare yourself
Comparing yourself with others is a waste of time, there will always be someone who is better than you in some sort of way, which makes it easier to fall in self-doubt – focus on what sets you apart, work on your own talent and learn from those you admire.
3. Be yourself
Having your own interest is important, do something that makes you interesting, whether it is a funky hobby or an unusual job, casting directors want to know who you are behind the face. If your whole personality is modeling, it will be less likely for you to be memorable.
4. Take breaks from social media
Having an interesting grid on Instagram and TikTok is important, being active online is part of the job itself; however your mental health should be one of your top priorities in this job, so remember to take breaks to keep you out of that “Chronically Online” state.
5. Get used to rejection
We all get hurt when we have to face a no, but be aware that in this industry rejection is more prevalent than acceptance. For every yes there will be a thousand no’s, but don’t take it personally! It’s the name of the game and sometimes you’re just not the right face for the client and that’s ok.
6. Celebrate diversity
Models come in every colour, flavour and style. Celebrate each other and rebel in the diversity of beauty.
