“You need to step away from the mirror every once in a while, and look for another reflection, like the one in the eyes of the people who love you and admire you.”

-Stacy London
To mark this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, themed around Body Image we wanted to take a moment to share some of our favourite quotes and self-care tips to inspire our readers.
Research shows that just over one in five adults and 40% of teenagers said images on social media caused them to worry about their body image. Having body image concerns is very common and is not a mental health condition in itself, however, it can be a huge risk factor for mental health problems.
TTM are big believers of self-care. Not just for ourselves but for those around us. Last year we launched our TTM Wellness campaign providing awareness and support of mental health issues and this year we launched our Time To Meet campaign to allow our models, creatives and team members to buddy up with each other so there is always someone to lean on.
Take a look at some of our self-care tips:
Spring Clean Your Apps

Although social media has its many benefits, it can also contribute to insecurities. If any of the social media platforms you follow make you feel down or self-conscious, spring clean those apps so your feed is filled with positivity.

Feed And Train Your Soul

We all know how important it is to eat healthily and stay active but having those around you to help you do so is also a vital tool. As a team we train together, share our healthy eating tips and are even taking a trip away together in September to a wellness retreat in Crete.

See The Light
Surround your living and work spaces with natural light can improve your emotional state. The sun can really lift your mood.
Pets

Having a furry friend can help you feel less alone, improve your mood and reduce anxiety. In our work environment, we have always been surrounded by dogs and puppies and our newest recruit Red definitely puts a smile on our faces.

And probably the most important…
Speak Up

There will always be someone to help you. Speak up and discuss your insecurities, sometimes a problem shared is a problem halved and you may be surprised that they are having the same thoughts. And don’t forget while remembering to talk, it is also very important to listen. Helping someone can also improve your own outlook on life!

Take a look at some of TTM’s favourite inspirational body image quotes:

“Take care of your body and your body will take care of you.”
“Love your body because you only have one.”
